In this section, you will define your business objective. This teaches Forwrd what you’re trying to predict. Additionally, we need to teach Forwrd two more definitions.

First, is what we call ‘To qualify’, This definition teaches Forwrd what your open records look like. Each record that meets this definition will be analyzed via your predictive model.

Additionally, we need to teach Forwrd what your closed records look like, This helps us ensure that Forwrd doesn’t try to make predictions on records that are not relevant to your business anymore.

To do this, let’s name our objective, select a relevant decision base, and then define our 3 metrics. I’ll start with my objective. In this case, I’m trying to predict which leads will become opportunities, so I’ll define my objective the same way an opportunity is defined in my data.

Next, I’ll define my ‘To qualify’ to teach Forwrd what new leads look like. I’ll define this the same way a new lead is defined in my data. Lastly, I’ll define my ‘Unqualified’ leads look like, so again, I’ll define this the same way an unqualified lead looks like in my data.

Once you’re done, move on the the ‘Projects’ section. This is where we will analyze our data and build a predictive model!
